Screen Education Portal links Higher Education screen educators, cinemas and film exhibitors in one site. This collaborative site provides a space for free access to high quality educational material and activities for students of film and television in the HE education sector.

Screen Education Portal can be used to  compliment teaching based around local cinema screenings, film festivals and up-and coming events in the  television schedules. It aims to promote a wider appreciation of and engagement with film and television history, theory, practice and debates. By encouraging the sharing of freely available teaching material and activities the Screen Education Portal can help develop and encourage effective practices in learning and teaching in film, media, television and communications subjects. As well as providing educational material for use with HE students  the Screen Education Portal will also enable the creation of a network of people and institutions supporting the delivery of screen education in its various forms and collaborating in the development and provision of learning resources

The website provides detailed historical overview of international film and television which can be used as important ‘background’ reading, or as an easily accessible reference. It also offers detailed overviews of film and television genres, institutions, theories and debates.
